NLP Gets a Bad Rep... But Here’s Why It’s My Tool of Choice for Real Transformation!
If you’ve heard the term NLP and immediately thought manipulative, salesy, or another coaching gimmick, you’re not alone.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) has been around since the 1970s, and yes, it's been misused. It's been over-marketed and misrepresented, especially in business and online coaching spaces.
But here’s the truth most people miss: NLP, when used with integrity, empathy, and trauma awareness, is one of the most powerful tools we have for rewiring the subconscious mind and creating lasting change.
And that’s exactly why I use it.
So what actually is NLP?
NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Simply put, it’s the study of how language (internal and external), thoughts, and behaviors create your experience of reality.
We each run on mental programs, formed by memories, beliefs, and past experiences. NLP allows us to uncover, reframe, and rewire those internal patterns to support the version of you that wants to grow, lead, and receive.
It’s a bit like updating your internal software.
In fact a client of mine once said..
The process itself felt like we took the breaker panel of my brain and flipped a bunch of switches to a healthier and more helpful position.
If you have ever had a moment where you knew what to do, but still didn’t follow through? Or felt like no matter how much you journal or affirm, you keep looping in the same story?
That’s where NLP comes in. It helps you shift at the level where real transformation happens, beneath the surface.
Let’s make this tangible. Try this:
Think of a limiting belief you’ve been carrying, like “I’m not good enough” or “I’ll never figure this out.”
Now pause. Ask yourself:
When did I first start believing this?
Whose voice is it really?
What does this belief protect me from?
These are the kinds of questions NLP helps you explore, not just intellectually, but energetically and somatically.
And once we uncover the root, we can rewire it.
Through NLP tools like sub-modalities, timeline therapy, anchoring, and parts integration, we shift how the subconscious stores and reacts to those patterns. In fact when working with me you can expect me to use some if not all of the following NLP Tools:
Timeline Therapy® – Release repressed anger, sadness, fear, hurt, and guilt from your nervous system. This is deep inner work that dissolves negative emotional energy and reclaims your personal power.
Limiting Decisions Removal – Pinpoint and clear the beliefs you unconsciously created at your root events (often before age 7, in the womb, or even passed down generationally).
Parts Integration – Resolve internal conflict and self-sabotage by bringing all parts of you into alignment with who you are becoming.
SWISH Pattern – Reprogram old patterns and habits using specific mental imagery techniques to install new, empowering behaviors.
Like to Dislike Sub-modalities – Change your relationship with behaviors, cravings, or triggers you want to eliminate.
Values Work – Identify and realign your values across key life areas like Career, Relationships, Health, Personal Growth, and more.
But mindset alone isn’t enough. That’s why I bring in Energetics + EFT.
Because the body keeps the score. (Thank you Dr. Bessel van der Kolk.)
If the nervous system doesn’t feel safe, it won’t matter what beliefs we rewrite. Your body will always pull you back into protection mode.
That’s where EFT tapping comes in. It’s a somatic-based energetic tool that helps regulate your nervous system, discharge stored emotions, and create safety in the body. Because we can clear the subconscious but the energy can remain in our bodies and if we don't shift that too then your body will still be signalling unsafety to the brain and the old patterns can come back!
Together, NLP and EFT bridge the mind and the body. One rewires your inner language. The other calms your system so that the change sticks.
This is the real work. The internal work. The kind that lasts.
So why do I care about all this?
Because I’ve walked the path of burnout, overachievement, fear of success, and the shame of not doing “enough.”
And I know how powerful it is when a woman learns to trust herself again. When she shifts out of fear and into alignment. When her mind, body, and energy are all finally on the same page.
NLP and EFT are the tools that helped me collapse timelines, come back to my truth, and create success on my terms.
And now, I use them every day with clients who are ready to lead, create, and rise from a place of inner safety and power, not pressure. Not to mention the secrets of manifestation, self leadership and so much more!
If you’ve ever felt like you know what to do but something deeper is still running the show, this might just be the work you didn’t know you needed.
Curious? Start with this: Pay attention to your inner dialogue for the next 24 hours. Notice what phrases you repeat. Notice how your body reacts. And ask yourself: Is this really my truth, or just an old program still running?
The answers might surprise you.
